Seat belts and airbags are safety restraints located inside of the occupant compartment.
Safety System
Seat belts are made of high strength nylon and attach to the vehicle's inner
structural panels. Seat belts provide a means of holding an occupant in the
seat during vehicle operation.
Air-bag systems use a cloth material that quickly fills with nitrogen gas at the moment of vehicle impact, preventing an occupant from striking surrounding components. Air-bags can be found installed in newer vehicles on the steering wheel, passenger dash, and side doors.
